Hike Along Fuerteventura’s Wild Coast and Uncover Its Legends
Join us on a guided coastal hike through Fuerteventura’s wild landscapes, where desert scenery meets ancient legends and volcanic formations. This experience takes you far from the tourist crowds, into a world of cliffs, chapels, rock arches, and caves — with breathtaking views and stories passed down through generations.
The Canyon and the Island’s Patron Saint
Our adventure begins in a secluded palm grove hidden within a volcanic canyon — a true oasis in the island’s arid interior. Walking along a narrow basalt path, we reach a small chapel with stunning valley views. Here you’ll learn the legend of the Virgin of La Peña, Fuerteventura’s patron saint, whose image is honored every September with local festivities.
Ajuy and the Island’s Ancient Origins
The tour continues in the picturesque fishing village of Ajuy, where you’ll walk along the rugged coastline and explore some of the oldest rock formations in the Canary Islands. Fossils found in the sandstone cliffs reveal the island’s geological birth from the sea. The dramatic coastal caves and ocean views make this one of Fuerteventura’s most iconic stops.
The Hidden Rock Arch
Just 30 minutes from Ajuy lies a towering, little-known volcanic arch — a natural gateway that looks like it leads to another world. This quiet, remote spot invites peaceful reflection, with the sound of crashing waves and the sea breeze as your soundtrack. After a break, we return to Ajuy along the coast.
