Sunset and stars Teide: self-drive overview
This introduction to the night sky combines a scenic sunset with guided observations. With an underwater sound system on selected nights, you may even listen to celestial audio demonstrations. It is an ideal choice for small groups seeking a relaxed pace and clear explanations.
Itinerary: lava-field sunset and star gazing
Meet for sunset in the lava fields from Tenerife’s last eruptions, around 1,400 meters, overlooking La Palma, El Hierro and La Gomera with a glass of cava or juice. Photos are taken of you and the sunset here. Then follow in your own car up to about 2,000 meters, near Narices del Teide, for Mount Teide star gazing. Depending on conditions, you can observe visible planets, the Moon, stars and galaxies.
Guides use telescopes and lasers to point out constellations and explain science and mythology. Routes and timing may vary with weather and sky clarity.
