What you can do on Tenerife excursions

Mount Teide takes the biggest share: the Teide excursion with cable car from south Tenerife (5 hours), the half-day tour with hotel pickup (5 hours) or the summit ascent with cable car ticket (6 hours, guide in Spanish, English and German). After dark, stargazing with dinner and hotel pickup lasts 7 hours, and the sunset and stars self-drive tour, 3 hours.

At sea, whale watching leaves from Costa Adeje and Los Cristianos: the Freebird catamaran (3 to 4.5 hours), the 5-hour catamaran tour, an exclusive sailing trip (3 hours) or the Viking ship Ragnarok (2 hours). Under the surface there are 20- or 40-minute discover scuba dives in Costa Adeje, 2-day PADI courses and a 50-minute real submarine trip from Amarilla Golf with audio guide in 12 languages, English included.

On land: buggies along the Amarilla Golf and Costa Adeje coast and up to Teide (2 to 3.5 hours), paragliding flights in Adeje and Ifonche (15 minutes to an hour and a half), electric MTB routes through the La Orotava valley, Garachico and the Chinyero volcano, plus the northern wine route, 8 hours with a tasting and lunch at a winery. We currently have no private tours with a driver-guide and no guachinche routes: they came from a supplier who has stopped working with us.

Where the excursions start

Most of the 59 Tenerife tours leave from Tenerife South: Costa Adeje (catamarans, diving, buggies), Los Cristianos (kayak, Viking ships, sailing boat) and Amarilla Golf (buggy, jet ski, submarine). In Tenerife North you find the bike routes of La Orotava, the wine route from La Laguna, the e-MTB from Garachico and Loro Parque in Puerto de la Cruz. Staying in the south and want a day in the north? There is an 8-hour free day in Puerto de la Cruz with transfers.

Practical information

  • Take a warm layer to Teide even in summer: tours climb above 2,000 metres and the summit ascent reaches 3,555.
  • Night tours to Teide include dinner and last 6.5 to 7 hours; the 3-hour self-drive option needs your own car.
  • On catamarans and sailing boats, bring sun protection and a windproof layer; trips last 2 to 5 hours.
  • Discover scuba dives last 20 or 40 minutes and need no experience; PADI courses take 2 days with 4 dives.

If you would rather be on the water, a catamaran of 3 to 5 hours from Costa Adeje or Los Cristianos leaves the other half of the day free. And with a car, the 5-hour Teide tour with cable car puts you up there early, when the park is at its quietest.
